The Little Rock Rangers of USL2 have announced their inaugural league schedule for 2021. The 14-match slate features four Friday / Saturday games at historic War Memorial Stadium and three midweek matchups including the first USL2 league match in club history on Wednesday, May 12 versus Houston FC. Home kickoff times are at 7pm.

After missing all of 2020 due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of the season, a new schedule and the promise of a new season was not lost on Rangers club president Jonathan Wardlaw.

"I'm so excited to finally get a senior team back on the field. I miss seeing the fans and being in War Memorial Stadium. Last summer it just felt like something was missing in my life.”

USL2 organizations were asked by the league office to put together their own schedules for 2021. An interesting task when figuring out stadium dates and dealing with new relationships within USL2 and its Central Conference’s Mid-South Division.

“The scheduling process was quite difficult this year,” Wardlaw said. “There were so many moving parts with the teams and venues working around the pandemic. Normally the USL schedule is completed at the owners meeting and is out by January. This year the league basically had to create a template and leave it up to the teams to sort out. A few of the teams still don't have 100% guarantee from their facilities that they can even use them this summer. I'll be surprised if our schedule doesn't have to be changed here and there. However, these are the times we are living in and I think the fans will understand."

Rangers will play two of their first three matches at home in May. Follow that in June with four of six games at home in the Capital city including a June 26 clash with returning champion Brazos Valley. July is another story as Little Rock will spend most of the month on the road playing three-consecutive road matches in Texas before returning home to War Memorial on July 10 to round out the USL2 schedule against Corpus Christi FC.

In the coming weeks, the schedule will be filled out with friendly matchups completing a challenging 2021 slate.

"We have tryouts next weekend and there are players coming in from all over the place,” Wardlaw said with a smile. “It will be interesting to see the level of the players due to the reputation that being a member of the USL brings."
