The Rangers defeated McKinney’s Chupacabras 6-0 in their home opener of the USL League Two Mid-South Division.

Coming off a road win this past Saturday against the Denton Diablos, the Rangers now boast a perfect six points from six and sit at the top of the table.

The match began sluggishly for the home side, with a slow start that saw them concede several early chances to the Chupacabras. Although those threats were eventually neutralized, it was not the ideal opening for Doyle’s squad.

“The last two games, we’ve started a little bit slow, so the intensity needs to improve,” Doyle said. “As the game goes on, we get better, but I do think we need to start a little bit faster.”

As the first half progressed, the Rangers began to settle in, growing more confident in possession, attacking with greater intent, and gradually taking control of the match. That improvement paid off in the 38th minute, when striker Amos Boum Nlend, making his home debut, opened the scoring with a clinical finish off a beautifully placed free-kick cross from Keevo McConnell. The goal shifted the momentum and gave the Rangers a deserved edge heading into halftime.

That momentum carried right into the second half. Within the first minute, Amos struck again, with a powerful header at the back post to double the lead and firmly establish the Rangers’ dominance. Just thirty seconds later, he completed his hat trick, sending the home crowd into a frenzy with a dazzling display of attacking soccer.

The second half belonged entirely to the Rangers. Amos, in unstoppable form, found the back of the net once more to score his fourth of the night—a rare “poker” in soccer terms and etched his name into club history as the first Ranger to score four goals in a single USL League 2 match.

“This whole thing is the team’s job,” Amos said after the match. “We started a little late, but we kept pushing, and the team helped me get those goals. Props to everybody, it’s the team’s job. I was just lucky to be there to finish the chances.”

He also touched on what will help the team keep growing through the season:
“Communication when we start to come together, understand each other, and put in the effort as a unit, that’s when the spaces open up, and the whole team works as one instead of as individuals.”

The Rangers weren’t finished yet. As the saying goes in soccer, “If you want to show respect to your opponent, go out and score more goals” and that’s exactly what they did. Raphael Kistman, also making his home debut, added the fifth goal of the night with a composed finish. Ethan Blake capped off the scoring with a sixth goal, putting an exclamation mark on a dominant team performance.

It was a night to remember for the Rangers, one that not only showcased their firepower and precision on the pitch but also highlighted their humility, unity, and hunger to improve every day, both individually and collectively.

“I would feel pretty good after a 6-0 win, just happy for the guys, putting the ball on the net, a clean sheet; there’s not much more you can ask for as a coach,” said Coach Doyle, putting the result into perspective.

The Rangers will look to keep the momentum going as they hit the road again this Saturday, May 24, when they travel to Louisiana to face Red River FC at 7 p.m.
